Michael K. Luckey

Michael Keith Luckey

June 3, 1957 Nov. 2, 2025

Michael Keith Luckey of Boerne, Texas, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Nov. 2, 2025, at the age of 68.

Mike was born to Lt. Col. (Ret.) Edward K. Luckey and Helen DePoy Luckey on June 3, 1957, in Enid, Oklahoma. The son of an Air Force flight instructor, Mike grew up around military bases in Oklahoma, Kansas, California, and Texas. He graduated from Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio in 1975, then earned an associate’s degree in Mechanical Technology from Texas State Technical Institute in Waco in the late 1970s.

After completing an internship with Southwest Research Institute, Mike began what would become a lifelong career there. He worked for more than 30 years and retired as a Principal Engineering Technologist. He was known for his sharp mind and quiet leadership, and for always believing that his job was to solve the customer’s problem.

In 1990, Mike married the love of his life, Janelle “Jan” Rae Astasauskas Williams. Together they built a home on a small farm north of Boerne, where they spent 33 years surrounded by faith, family, and their German Shepherds. Jan passed away in 2023, leaving behind a partnership that everyone around them admired.

Mike cared deeply about his community. He was a familiar face at Boerne City Council and Kendall County Commissioners Court meetings, where he stood firm for property rights, constitutional government and personal responsibility. He served as a precinct chair for the Kendall County Republican Party, on the Proposition A Bond Committee, and was always willing to roll up his sleeves for the causes he believed in.

Those who knew Mike will remember a man who lived his convictions, who prayed with friends as easily as he debated policy over coffee, and who never wavered from doing what he thought was right. Mike leaves behind a legacy of faith, integrity, and service. He believed in standing up for what mattered, loving people well, and doing his part to make Kendall County a better place.

He was preceded in death by his father, ret. Lt. Col. Edward K. Luckey, and his wife, Jan. He is survived by his mother, Helen Luckey; three sisters, Cindy (Bob) Russell, Denise (Jack) Cross, and Jeanne (Rodney) Archer; seven nieces and nephews; 12 greatnieces and nephews; two stepsons, Stephen (Amber) Williams and Patrick (Sophia) Williams; sixteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at First Baptist Church Boerne, 631 S. School St. Boerne, TX, visitation at noon, service at 1 p.m. followed by a private family burial. Patriotic dress encouraged.

Donations in Mike’s honor can be made to Das Festival of Kendall. Services entrusted to Ebensberger Fisher Funeral Home. To leave a condolence for the family please visit www. ebensberger-fisher.com.
