“Advocate, educate and connect” are the principles and focus of the Greater Boerne Chamber, President and CEO Kim Blohm told members Nov. 14 at the organization’s annual meeting at the Bevy Hotel.
Blohm expressed gratitude for the trust, involvement and support of the business and nonprofit members, all 1,200-plus of them — including the 291 new members who joined in the past year, exceeding all historic records.
Plus, Blohm said, the Chamber has achieved an 80% retention rate.
The staff was recognized for its ongoing support of the members in the day-today operation. Those in the Ambassador Council were named as the mentors who champion the new members as they join.
Each month, the Chamber hosts business- education workshops and new-member orientation luncheons, offering insights into business operations and the benefits of membership, officials said.
New workshops and councils were introduced in 2025, the audience heard.
The Chamber worked with the Kendall County Health Inspection Department to provide a seminar for restaurant owners and partnered with the Boerne Independent School District and its career and technical education intern program to connect with businesses.
In addition, with 300 veteran- owned concerns registered in Kendall County, the Chamber started a new council to promote their interests, officials said.
Other milestones outlined during the session at the Bevy included news that at the San Antonio Startup Week conference, the Chamber hosted a breakout session: “Boerne is Booming” to hundreds of businesspeople and nonprofits.
Blohm also discussed issues involving member- retention, which are affected by turnovers in the workforce, smaller companies closing or moving out of Boerne, and making the business arena relevant for new, younger merchants and service providers.
Representatives of the business and civic organization said they are also dedicated to ensuring no commercial building, especially in the Hill Country Mile, remains empty.
Other information presented at the session included:
• About 20% of the Chamber membership do not have brick and mortar in Boerne but service the Boerne area.
• More than 37,800 employees are represented by Chamber members.
• Over 8,150 people attended 290 in-person events: 1,850 to Mixers and Mingles; 3,800 at Diva Nights; 280 at Chamber galas and luncheons; and 275 each for Lemonade Days and member orientations.
