SAN ANTONIO - Boerne High defeated Gregory-Portland, 38-7, Friday in the third round of the playoffs at Comalander.

The Greyhounds will face Alamo Heights this coming week in the regional championship game.

BHS dominated the Wildcats and held them without a first down in the first quarter and only two first downs in the first half.

Gregory-Portland had scored 70 points in its last three games and at least 60 in its last five. Their only points Friday came late in the game on a punt return with seven seconds left.

The Greyhounds left a lot of points on the turf and had two touchdowns called back and also turned it over three times, all in the first half.

Boerne coach Brett Sawyer said he was proud of his team for keeping the Wildcats offense in check and added that there were a few things to clean up offensively, but was happy for the win and to be playing in the fourth round.
