Lady Chargers kick Mules by

The Alamo Heights girls basketball team outscored the Lady Chargers in the first quarter during Tuesday’s district game held in San Antonio, but the Champion girls owned the final three quarters and went on to beat the Mules, 49-39.

Tuesday’s win improves Champion to 2-1 in district and 9-9 overall heading into Friday’s contest against Boerne High. After that, the Chargers visit Pieper early next week before taking a break and then playing in the Boerne ISD tournament Dec. 29-30.

Alamo Heights took the first quarter in Tuesday’s contest, 12-9, but the Chargers doubled up the Mules in the second stanza, 12-6, for the 21-18 halftime lead.

Champion won the third quarter, 17-15, and then outscored the Mules in the final period, 11-6, to win the second half, 28-21.

Jenna Koepke and Saoirse Ray both dropped in a dozen points each, Sage Ramsey added 8 points, Brielle Burdick finished with 7, Kylie Baum had 5, Kam Edwards scored 3 and Loreno Barreiro chipped in with 2.
