The Geneva School of Boerne girls basketball team picked up its second district win in a row Tuesday after the Eagles defeated New Braunfels Christian Academy.
Game time was moved up by a few hours so the team could get home and study for final exams, but the early start time didn’t bother the Eagles after they rolled to a 53-23 win.
Geneva is now 2-0 in district and 4-11 overall. They visited Antonian Friday and then are off for a bit. The Eagles won’t play again until they host their tournament on Dec. 29-30.
In Tuesday’s contest, Geneva tripled up NBCA in the opening quarter, 12-4, and then took a 20-12 lead into halftime after both teams scored 8 points apiece in the second stanza.
The Eagles pulled away with a strong third quarter after outscoring New Braunfels Christian, 18-4, to open up a 38-16 lead.
Geneva closed it out by winning the fourth quarter, 15-7.
Sopris Oglesby paced the Eagles with 13 points and 10 rebounds to make it a double-double. Oglesby also came up with 4 steals, while Payton Boles was also in double figures after she scored 11 points.
Lexi Oglesby and Amelia Morgan netted 8 points each, Reese Smith scored 6, Gaby Medrano, Addison Griffey and Londyn Winchell all chipped in with 2 points and Gracyn Miller hit a free throw.
Geneva boys
The Eagles took on New Braunfels Christian Academy Tuesday as well and lost to the Wildcats, 87-45.
Geneva is 0-2 in district and won’t play again until they will help co-host a tournament at the school, Dec. 29-30.
