Candidate filing for the May 2 general election gets underway next week for candidates in Boerne, Fair Oaks Ranch and the Boerne Independent School District.
Filing opens at 8 a.m. Jan. 14 and runs through 5 p.m. Feb. 13 for the respective races.
City of Boerne
Two district council seats will be on the May ballot: District 1, currently occupied by Mayor Pro Tem Ty Wolosin, and District 3, represented by Kyle Mickelsen. Mickelsen was selected by council in September to fill a vacancy left when former Councilman Quinten Scott moved from the city and subsequently withdrew from council.
Fair Oaks Ranch
Fair Oaks voters will find two races on its May ballot as well. Fair Oaks council members serve three-year terms.
Keith Rhoden, Place 2 councilman and Mayor Pro Tem, will be up for re-election should he decided to run again. Joining him on ballot will be Jonathan Swarek, selected in March 2025 to fill the Place 6 seat vacated by Chesley Muenchow, who had moved from the city the previous November.
Boerne Independent School District
Places 6 and 7 are up for election in May in the Boerne Independent School District. All school board positions are for three-year terms.
Place 6 is occupied by current board President Kristi Schmidt, while Trustee Rich Sena serves in Place 7.
The last day to register to vote in the election is April 2. Early voting begins April 20 and runs through April 28, three days before the election on the first Saturday of May.
