About 120 tickets can still be purchased for the 2026 Empty Bowls Boerne project, an annual fundraiser benefiting local food-related charities.
Sherri Jo Adams, a local ceramic artist for 25 years, helps organize the event, now in its eighth year.
For $25, supporters purchase a ticket that allows them to pick out any of the 300-plus bowls created for the occasion by potters, ceramic artists, glass artists and woodworkers.
“(The proceeds) have to go toward food pantries, to hunger relief or to battle food insecurity,” Adams said. “I have 15 to 20 professional potters that make bowls. I have 25 students at my studio classroom, probably 20 of those who have made bowls for it.”
Empty Bowl Day is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 21 at First United Methodist Church, 205 James St. Those who have purchased entry online may show up and pick one handmade bowl per ticket.
Each acquisition comes with a choice of soup to go offered by 10 area restaurants. “All the different selections of soups, that makes it a little more interesting,” she said.
Proceeds raised from bowl sales, donations and sponsorships will be split between the Kendall County Women’s Shelter and Hill Country Family Service’s food pantry, the Corner Cupboard.
“Between selling the bowls and donations, we make between $10,000 and $12,000, which we split between our recipient organizations,” she said.
With 300 bowls, she said they’ll see typically around 180- to 190-plus people come through.
“Once it starts, it moves fast,” she said. “We like to have extra bowls, for people that show up purchasing one ticket, and decide they want another bowl or two.”
The remaining 120 tickets are available at emptybowlsboerne. com (click “Buy Tickets”) or https:// www.hcfstx.org/events.
The event usually sells out, so don’t wait, she said.
