Geneva girls vs. Rosehill Christian, Tuesday in Schulenburg, 6 p.m.
Geneva School of Boerne visited Holy Cross on Tuesday to close out the regular season in boys and girls basketball.
The Lady Eagles were playing for seeding in the district, while the Geneva boys closed out their 2025-26 season.
Varsity Girls
The Geneva girls have come a long way in the 2025-26 basketball season After an 0-10 record to begin non-district and a 2-3 start to district play, the Eagles have won six of their last seven, including Tuesday night’s victory over Holy Cross, 49-27.
Geneva’s win left them tied for second in district play at 8-4 with two other teams (Castle Hills, CC John Paul II) behind firstplace CC Incarnate Word.
By virtue of the tiebreaker, the Eagles will take second place since their margin of victory was greater against teams they are tied with in the standings.
Geneva (12-18) played TIM-Episcopal in a warm-up game Friday and begins the postseason this coming week. They’ll open the playoffs against Rosehill Christian on Tuesday in Schulenburg, 6 p.m.
In Tuesday’s contest, freshman Anna-Claire Bussey paced the team with 15 points, Sopris Oglesby added 13, Carlyle Harden finished with 8, Payton Boles scored 5, while Reese Smith, Gracyn Miller, Gaby Medrano and Lexi Oglesby all recorded 2 points.
Sopris Oglesby made it a double-double after she collected 13 rebounds to go with her 13 points. Harden had 9 boards, Payton Boles dished out 3 assists and Addison Griffey came up with 3 steals.
In their previous game, Geneva beat Castle Hills, 39-32. Against the Eagles, Payton Boles led the team with 18 points and Sopris Oglesby added 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Varsity Boys
The young Eagles closed out the season Tuesday with a 79-38 loss to the Knights.
Geneva finished district at 2-10 and 9-18 overall.
Prior to Tuesday’s contest, the Eagles lost to Castle Hills, 46-37.
Geneva only had one senior this year in Noah Brunsvold.
