Boerne Chamber directs scholarship applications

BOERNE — The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce is offering five scholarships to high school seniors graduating in 2026.

All graduating seniors living and attending school in Kendall County are invited to apply. Applications are available online. The deadline for the application is 5 p.m. Friday, March 20.

Each scholarship is $2,000 and will be split into two disbursements (one for fall semester and one for spring semester).

The following scholarships are available:

• The Boerne Chamber Business & Entrepreneur Scholarship is dedicated to supporting the next generation of business leaders and innovators. This scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who is pursuing a degree in business and has a passion for entrepreneurship. We seek a student who dreams of starting their own business and making a lasting impact in their community.

• The Stuart Cavender Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the legacy of Stuart Cavender, a dedicated leader, businessman and community advocate. His commitment to hard work, integrity, and service defined his life and the Cavender Auto Group’s mission of giving back. This scholarship is designed to support a graduating senior who exemplifies Stuart’s values - demonstrating leadership, hard work, and a passion for making a positive impact in their community.

• The Laurie Bushong Lang Memorial Scholarship will be presented to a student who epitomizes the spirit of community service demonstrated by the late Laurie Lang.

• The Boerne Air Conditioning & Heating Trade Scholarship acknowledges a local small business owners’ passion to support and give back to the entrepreneur and/or trade inspired student who embodies a spirit to pursue their vocational and trade studies.

• The Marek, Finch & Taylor Memorial Scholarship honors the lives of family members whose battles with cancer and dementia inspired a deep appreciation for compassionate, skilled medical care. This scholarship supports a senior pursing education in a medical or health-related field and committed to improving the lives of patients and families.

Seniors can submit applications by 1) Turning in the application to the counselor’s office at Samuel V. Champion High School, Boerne High School, Geneva School of Boerne or Comfort High School; or 2) dropping off the application in a sealed envelope, to the attention of Melissa Hinton at the Boerne Chamber, 121 S. Main St. during business hours, or by dropping it in the dropbox, located to the left of the chamber office back door.
