Geneva girls soccer team finishes second in the state

The Geneva girls soccer team finished second in the state after they were defeated by McKinney Christian Academy in the TAPPS DIII state finals Wednesday in Round Rock. 

The Mustangs won Wednesday’s match 4-1 and never trailed in the contest. 

McKinney Christian was up 1-0 but the Eagles tied it after Peyton Eiland answered with a goal to knot it at 1-1. The Mustangs knocked in two more goals before the half to hold a 3-1 lead and added one more goal in the second half to secure the win. 

Geneva finishes the year at 16-6-4 and beat district foe Schertz John Paul II in the state semis on Tuesday, 2-0.

Geneva boys 

The Geneva boys play Thursday in the state semifinals in Round Rock against the British International School of Houston , 3 p.m. 

Thursday's winner plays in the state finals Friday, 2:30 p.m.
