Karulak new Republican Club leader

Charles Karulak is the new president of the Kendall County Republican Club.

Karulak, a 35-year Boerne resident and a member of the club for the past three years, recently took over from former President Rich Sena, who remains as first vice president-programs.

The club meets six times a year, Karulak said, to “educate our membership with issues that are relative to (the) Republican Party or general things to share” among its members.

According to its website, the club’s mission is to inform the public about political issues through education and activity; to foster and encourage participation in the Republican Party, its officials, candidates and philosophy; and to work for the election of all GOP nominees.

Recent meetings included a candidate forum in January for county officials, and state Sen. Paul Bettencourt, R-Harris, addressing the group about real-estate taxes, homestead exemption and similar issues.

Karulak came to Boerne in the fall of 1990 from Dallas and San Antonio.

He logged 48 years in education as a former private school educator and as headmaster at The Winston School in San Antonio for 32 years.
