THE BOOKWORM
Did you know May is National Mystery Month?
To help celebrate here at the Patrick Heath Public Library, we have a themed display in the lobby for the month, with specially wrapped mystery books.
These are truly “mysteries” because they are wrapped in brown paper, and clues are written on the outside of the book to help patrons discover what might be inside. Select a book based on the clues and check it out at our circulation desk.
Hopefully patrons will be able to discover a new mystery author or two with this fun promotion, through the month.
If you aren’t wanting to read the clues to discover new authors, here are a few books I recently read and enjoyed.
* “Three Bags Full” by Leonie Swann is a detective story where a flock of sheep must solve the mystery, after their owner is killed. There is a follow up title, “Big Bad Wool.” The “Sheep Detectives” movie coming out soon was based on “Three Bags Full.” These titles are available to read on the Libby app, and “Three Bags Full” will be cataloged in print, soon.
* “Case of Mice and Murder,” by Sally Smith is set in London’s legal world, where a very professional barrister is called upon to solve a ghastly murder. Barrister Gabriel Ward just wants to resolve his current case, the disputed authorship of best-selling children’s book “Millie the Temple Church Mouse,” when the body of the Lord Chief Justice of England is discovered on his doorstep.
A Case of Mice and Murder” is available to read through the Cloud Library app and will be cataloged in print and on the mystery shelves soon.
