CELEBRATING THE ARTS
It is with great sadness that the directors of Hill Country Council for the Arts and directors of The AgriCultural Museum and Arts Center announce to our community the death of Rob Ziegler.
So many of you knew Rob from his longtime service as a Boerne City Councilman, followed by his commitment as treasurer to many arts organizations. In addition to the above arts and heritage partners, Rob served Boerne Professional Artists, Boerne Art League, Boerne Performing Arts and, in our more recent past, he spent years working with the all-encompassing Dickens-on-Main committee.
Projects seen through to successful fruition were the Boerne Public Arts Program, introduced first by the long-term rental of Robert Summers, “Longhorns” and installed behind Main Plaza, and the installation of Erik Christianson’s, “Wild Bill Hickok,” who invites visitors to sit and observe, in front of Main Plaza.
Boerne Performing Arts entertained families and so many school-aged children, as they brought international talent to Champion High School's auditorium several times a year for 13 years. More recent accomplishments of the organizations Rob served: Boerne BierFest — we remember the art, music games of strength, and craft beer. And in just these past two years, Music on the Mile has grown exponentially.
It was Rob who counseled Boerne Visual Artists in “all things accounting” and celebrated their quick success in becoming the voice of professional artists here in our community.
As a resident wine guy, we invite you to raise a glass to the last of Rob's visions for the community, the Hill Country Art and Wine Festival, Memorial Day weekend May 22-23 at Main Plaza. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to any one of the organizations that Rob served.
Rob's wife, Lucy, will be hosting a memorial service for Rob from 2-4 p.m. June 6 at The AgriCultural Museum and Arts Center, 102 City Park Road. Simple refreshments will be served. The community is invited to attend.
For those who knew the family well, Rob's wife, Lucy, has a new address where you can send your thoughts and prayers: Lucy Ziegler, 29411 North Saddle Trail, San Antonio, Texas 78255, Hill Country Council for the Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
