Sena testifies on behalf of public education

BOERNE — Boerne ISD Board of Trustees member Rich Sena was invited to provide testimony during a recent Texas House Public Education Committee hearing focused on key issues impacting public schools across the state.

The June 1 hearing included discussion of House Bill 2 implementation, school finance, teacher recruitment and retention, and investments in special education. During the hearing, Sena shared insight on behalf of Boerne ISD and highlighted the importance of continued state support for public education.

Sena praised the Te a c h e r Retention Allotment as a positive step toward improving teacher pay, while also noting that overall school funding continues to lag behind inflation and enrollment growth. He shared that districts across Texas, including moderate-growth communities like Boerne ISD, continue to face budget challenges as they work to meet the needs of students, staff and families.

“We are grateful that Rich Sena had the opportunity to represent Boerne ISD and bring local perspective to this important statewide conversation,” said Kristin Craft, BISD superintendent. “His testimony reflects our district’s continued commitment to advocating for strong public schools, competitive teacher pay and stable funding that supports student success.”

In a June 4 release, the district said appreciates Sena’s leadership and service to the district, as well as his continued advocacy for students, educators and public education in Texas.
