More than 150 young men and women showed up for this year’s Boerne ISD Tennis Camp held recently on the courts of Boerne Champion and Boerne High. The camp was broken down in two sessions for the older and younger campers and they alternated sites throughout the week. At the end of the camp, the youngsters pose for a photo in their camp T-shirts. Star photos by Kerry Barboza(LEFT) The older campers work as a two-person team during one of the drills. The more points each doubles team wins, the longer they stay on the court.(RIGHT) There were plenty of games to be played and one of them was “jail” where a camper has to catch the ball in the air to escape from the jail. It helps with hand and eye coordination.A tennis player returns the ball over the net, while others wait for their turn during one of the drills.(RIGHT) One of the keys to becoming a good tennis play is to be in shape. The athletes worked on conditioning at the camp with a variety of exercises that teach balance as well. One of the coaches watches as the campers work on their serves.
