Clark back on board with Arts Council

The Hill Country Council for the Arts welcomes Connie Clark back to its board of directors.

She served on the board from 2011 — when she created and wrote the weekly Boerne Star column, “Celebrating the Arts” — until 2018.

Since then, Clark expanded her reach by writing feature and local government articles for the Hill Country Weekly. She was editor of Boerne Lifestyle magazine for three years after its inception in 2020. She now creates content for print, digital and radio.

A native Texan, Clark loves researching Texas history and wrote the “Boerne History” spots for Boerne Radio.

She also writes a monthly column in the Bulverde Spring Branch Highlights called, “Did You Know?” featuring articles about Comal County, Bulverde and Spring Branch history.

Clark is the queen of networking and has made hundreds of connections over the years by having memberships in chambers, business associations and groups of interest.

She’s not satisfied with just joining an organization, she serves as a volunteer. She serves on four boards and offers her expertise in content creation, grant writing, marketing and whatever is needed to promote Hill Country for the Arts and other nonprofits like Boerne Community Theatre, Hill Country Women in Business, and Boerne Area Historical Preservation Society.

Connie Can Write is her business where she specializes in writing grants for seven nonprofits; creates content for industry and personal blogs; and also proofreads and edits authors’ works before they go to the publisher.

Clark grew up in a small farming town near Corpus Christi, graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, and lived most of her adult life in Houston. She has lived in the Hill Country for the past 20 years. Retired from IBM in 2016, she considers her current pursuits her “fun career.”
