BOERNE — The recently launched “Family Structure Does Matter” initiative has begun a sociological survey to harness women’s informative experiences and utilize them to determine root causes of human suffering within families and society.
Family Structure Does Matter is founded and led by Barbara Cox, a certified teacher who earned her bachelor’s degree from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. Her background includes laboratory research work for the U.S. Army and providing civilian material support for Operation Desert Storm.
Through real-life accounts, observations, lessons learned and wisdom gained, the initiative helps find solutions that can address and help heal common societal issues.
“Even in these changing times, the healthy and functional nuclear family remains an elemental foundation throughout society,” Cox states ion a release.
In Family Structure Does Matter, the narratives collected from women of all walks, realms and ages of life (18 and up) will be assessed professionally by a statistician and mathematician, to better understand the intricate dynamics of family structure, both positive and negative — then determine data-driven and informed results that will strengthen the fabric of our communities.
A woman in the first round of interviews, Tiffany, said of the project, “Barbara Cox and Family Structure Does Matter is a wonderful organization performing meaningful research on family dynamics.”
Cox plans to extend the survey beyond its regional launch across the nation.
“We women are uniquely positioned and experienced in family dynamics to offer valuable insights and information,” Cox said “What are the current family and related social challenges? Let’s all figure it out together in a journey to make a difference!”
Volunteer participation in the data collection interviews takes at least one hour, and preferably in groups, though also individually, discussing both past and present in an empathetic atmosphere, using the project’s easy tools.
Meeting locations include libraries, civic and community centers, shelters or similar safe public spaces. The sessions also include training in how to conduct eye dominance tests to enhance understanding.
