The Boerne High volleyball team didn’t drop a set or a game at last weekend’s inaugural Wildcat Classic in Elgin.
BHS won all six matches played and defeated Greenwood for the championship in straight sets. The Lady Greyhounds swept all six opponents last weekend and bumped its record to 18-3 overall.
Boerne visited Wagner Tuesday and will host Churchill on Friday before beginning district play Tuesday, Sept. 8, against Harlandale.
At the tourney, Boerne opened with pool play victories over Pasadena Memorial, Lexington and Carter-Riverside. They beat Pasadena Memorial, 25-9, 25-16, swept Lexington 25-20, 25-17 and then defeated Carter- Riverside, 25-9, 25-9.
Boerne returned to the event in Elgin and swept Thorndale, 25-12, 25-16, and faced Veterans Memorial in the semifinals and pounded the Patriots, 25-9, 25-8, to advance to the championship match against Greenwood.
The Rangers put up a good fight in the title tilt, but the Lady Greyhounds finished them off, 27-25, 25-17.
Mallory Miles was named the Tournament MVP, while BHS coach Staci Lawrence said Kiley Coffland, Ava Seamans and Riley Caldwell all played well, but only one player per team was named all-tournament.
Also for the Lady Greyhounds, Cameron Keller recorded her 500th assist and is only a sophomore.
