Comfort High made short work of the Sonora volleyball team on Tuesday after the Deer won their match in straight sets.
CHS claimed the 25-19, 25-23, 25-11 win and improved to 14-14 overall. The Deer visited Leakey on Friday and will host Stockdale on Tuesday before taking off next Friday. After that, they’ll still have another week of non-district matches before opening district play on Sept. 22 at Blanco.
In Tuesday’s match, Tindall Ahrens had a big night and finished with 20 kills, while Emily Hill added 8 kills. Comfort had a good night serving and dropped in 15 aces. Alyssa Angel recorded 5 aces and Emily Hill had 4 aces.
Alexa Lozano and Anahi Martinez both came up with 7 digs and Mallie Knight added 6 digs, while Knight tallied 14 assists and Savana Womble chipped in with a dozen assists.
Comfort went 3-3 at the Johnson City tournament last weekend. They dropped their first three matches on Friday but won the next three on Saturday.
