The Boerne High volleyball team claimed its ninth straight victory on Tuesday after the Lady Greyhounds swept Wagner on the road.
BHS defeated the Lady Thunderbirds, 25- 11, 25-20, 25-1, and improved ts record to 19-3 overall. Boerne hosted Churchill on Friday and will welcome Harlandale on Tuesday to begin district play.
Friday’s match with Churchill will be a good test for Boerne because the Chargers defeated the Greyhounds in the SAISD tournament earlier this year.
Boerne is coming off a 6-0 record at the Elgin tournament last weekend and won its two previous matches before the tourney. Add Tuesday’s win into the mix and that makes it nine straight victories.
BHS coach Staci Lawrence said she likes how her team is playing on the eve of district play. The Lady Hounds enter the week ranked No. 21 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association poll, one spot ahead of Champion which came in at No. 22. The two BISD teams play on Sept. 25 at Boerne High.
“Our team is clicking well right now,” Lawrence said. “We have experienced great success this preseason and are excited to keep the momentum rolling as we enter district play on Sept. 8.”
In Tuesday’s match, Ava Seamans led the team with 11 kills and 3 aces, Brook Summers added 8 kills, Mallory Miles dropped in 2 aces and had a block, Kiley Coffland finished with 16 digs and Molly McCormick recorded 10 digs and 15 assists.
Cameron Keller tallied 18 assists and added to her career totals after she hit 500 assists at the Elgin tournament.
