Lady Greyhounds take first at Medina Valley XC meet

Boerne High was entered in its second cross country meet of the season last Saturday at Medina Valley and the Lady Greyhounds turned in a strong performance and captured first place at the event, while the boys were 14th.

The Hounds are back in action this weekend at the Buda Hays meet at the Five Mile Dam Soccer Complex.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Greyhounds edged out the host Panthers, 51-53 for first, while Deer Park was third at 62 points in the field of 11 complete teams and 100 runners.

Boerne had two in the top four after Presley Merkens placed second with a 20:13 and Sutton Amerman finished two spots back with a 20:23 for fourth. Penelope Kirk ran a 20:57 for 12th, Lucille Frank was one spot back in 13th after recording a 21:03, while Ansley Schiller posted a 21:37 for 20th to round out the scoring five.

Ainsley Purcell came in 36th with a 22:41, Abigail Jundrusch finished in 22:45 for 39th, Aubrey Moehrig ran a 23:07, Michaeka Reichenau clocked in at 23:17 and Kiera Sawyer turned in a 23:32.

Varsity Boys

Sotomayor won the meet with 63 points, Medina Valley came in second at 80 and Lytle was third with 90, while the BHS boys tallied 399 points for 14th place in the field of 24 complete teams and more than 150 runners.

Kyle Clark finished 61st in 18:50 and Julian Wasel was one spot back in 18:22 for 62nd, Levi Mendoza posted an 18:55 for 81st, Colin Bartonicek finished in 19:19 for 94th, Stefan Bain clocked in at 19:30 for 101st, Joshua Reeves turned in a 19:42 for 106th, Kevin Rogers ran a 20:04 for 113th and Jackson Elsrod came in at 20:58.
