Boerne High survived a tough test from Laredo United last week and stayed unbeaten at 2-0. The Hounds will face another undefeated squad this Friday when they visit Davenport, which is led by former Boerne Champion offensive coordinator JD Zimmerhanzel.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Davenport.
Last Friday’s game with Laredo United had 11 ties or lead changes before it was decided as the teams kept scoring and retaking the lead. Greyhounds coach Brett Sawyer said he was proud of his team for persevering.
“Learning how to win games like that is a big deal and you can’t learn how to do that unless you get in those situations,” he said. “ When we needed a play, we made a play. I’m proud of them for that.”
Laredo United trailed Star photo by Miguel Martinez 34- 28 and scored a touchdown with 3:09 left but missed the extra point to leave it knotted at 34-all.
