COMFORT — Kendall County has lost one of its longtime
public servants as Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 Frieda J. Pressler, 72, has died, according to the Kendall County Sheriff’s
Office.
Pressler has served as Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace since 1986, most recently elected in 2022. Her current term runs through Dec. 31, 2026.
She began her career with Kendall County EMS in the early 1980s. In May 2024, Kendall County Commissioners Court recognized Pressler for 40 years of county service.
A post on the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page says Pressler “was a truly remarkable woman who dedicated her life to serving the people of Kendall County.”
“Judge Pressler had a true servant’s heart,” the post continued. “She never simply held a position, she embraced the responsibility that came with it. She cared deeply for the people she served, and her compassion, wisdom, kindness and dedication touched countless lives throughout Kendall County.”

A justice of the peace issues warrants for search and arrest, conduct preliminary hearings, administer oaths, perform marriage ceremonies, and serve as a coroner in counties where there is no provision for a medical examiner. The justice court also functions as a small claims court in civil matters in which exclusive jurisdiction is not in district or county court and the amount in controversy does not exceed $20,000.
For generations, Pressler was a familiar and trusted presence in the Comfort community.
“Kendall County has lost a dedicated public servant, a compassionate leader, and a friend,” the post said. “Your service may have come to an end, but your legacy of service will live on in the hearts of those you touched.”
