Greyhounds race at Hays CISD XC Invitational

Boerne High competed in the Hays CISD XC Invitational meet Saturday held in San Marcos at the 5-Mile Dam Soccer Complex.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to hit the road and run in the Islander Splash this weekend in Corpus Christi.

Varsity Girls

Churchill won the girls meet (70), NB Canyon placed second (88) and Smithson Valley took third (132), while the Lady Greyhounds were 11th with 338 points in the field of 26 teams and 229 runners.

Presley Merkens paced the Lady Hounds and finished 17th in 19:29, Sutton Amerman was 54th in 20:24, Lucille Frank came in 69th in 20:40, Ansley Schiller posted a 20:53 for 76th and Michaeka Reichenau rounded out the scoring five after she was 122nd in 22:08.

Abigail Jundrusch finished in 22:25 to place 132nd, Aubrey Moehrig came in at 22:45 for 140th, while Kiera Sawyer (22:55) and Ainsley Purcell (23:34) also ran at the meet.

Varsity Boys

The BHS boys tallied 710 points to finish 26th in the field of 32 teams and 252 runners.

Boerne Champion won the race (83), Austin Bowie earned silver (132) and Buda Hays picked up bronze (143).

Of Boerne’s top five finishers, three were sophomores, one was a freshman and the other a senior as this year’s team is young.

Wiley Davis had the squad’s best finish and was 119th with a time of 17:55, Colin Bartonicek was four spots back in the 123rd spot after running a 17:58, Julian Wasel came in at 18:20 for 138th, Levi Mendoza placed 152nd in 18:38 and Kevin Rogers ran a 19:20 for 178th to round out the scoring five.

Stefan Bain posted 19:32 for 186th, Hayden Heath clocked in at 20:14 for 197th, Joshua Reaves ran a 20:19 and Jackson Elsrod finished in 20:40.
