THE BOOKWORM
Artists in our area might want to attend the “Art Above Everything” panel discussion at the Boerne Book Festival, on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 10 a.m. The discussion follows the title of a new book by Stephanie Elizondo Griest, in which she met and interviewed more than 100 artists on different paths, and how they placed art above all.
Griest grew up in Corpus Christi and has traveled the world as a journalist and author. She’s written many books about her travels and is a Professor of Creative Non-Fiction at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Joining Griest on the panel discussion is Natalia Treviño, who is very well known in the poetry community in San Antonio and the author of several books of poetry, including her latest, “When You Were Human,” published by Flowersong Press.
Treviño is also the author of a new novel “The Road Back,” published by Arte Publico Press.
Moderating this discussion for us is our Artist-in-Residence Isaac Grigar, who held an art exhibit in the library’s gallery in May.
