Bobcats keep playoff hopes alive

Comfort High was on the road Friday night and picked up a much-needed win to keep its playoff chances alive.

The Bobcats visited Karnes City and recorded a 39-0 win over the Badgers. The Cats are 2-6 overall and 1-3 in district and picked up their first win since their season opener in August.

Comfort hosts YMLA on Friday and has to win, and then the Bobcats have to beat Blanco by 18 or more points in the regular-season finale, to make the playoffs

Friday's game turned into the Omar Rivera show in the first half as the Bobcats QB scored on TD runs of 18, 25 and 7 yards for the 20-0 lead. Rivera had 90 rushing yards in the first half, while Aiden King added rushing 78 yards for the Comfort team that had 226 ground yards by halftime.

Rivera went to the air in the second half for two more scores. He found Cole Young in the third quarter on a 10-yard strike and then tossed another TD pass to Cash Barrett of 55 yards to put the Bobcats ahead 32-0 with 7:10 left in the third.

Tyler Bateau closed out the scoring with a 90-yard touchdown run for the Bobcats to make it 39-0 with 7:16 left in the fourth. It stayed there as neither team scored after that.
