Robert Stephen Fahy

December 3, 1932 – January 11, 2022

Robert Stephen Fahy, known for his boundless and good-natured service to his church and

community, passed away peacefully at home January 11, 2022. He was 89. Requiem Mass is set for 10 a.m., Monday, February 7, 2022, at Boerne’s St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with private interment at Fort Sam Houston to follow.

Bob was born December 3, 1932, in Emery, S.D., but spent most of his life in South Texas. Soon after his 1951 graduation from Emery High School – where he excelled in several sports and was known in the local newspaper as “a one-man track team” – Bob joined the U.S. Navy.

After basic training, he was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida. He married his wife, Iris, who also was from Emery, at the Naval Air Station chapel on July 1, 1954.

After Bob’s discharge from the Navy, he and his wife and children remained in Jacksonville, where he worked mostly in sales before his transfer by Ohio Medical Products to San Antonio in 1970. Bob’s work with Ohio Medical Products took him from San Antonio to Ohio, Minnesota and Illinois before his final transfer to Texas, where he retired to Fair Oaks Ranch in 1994.

His retirement years were devoted to his grandchildren, world travel and sports.

Throughout his life, Bob dedicated much of his time to community and church service. In 1959, he joined the Knights of Columbus in Jacksonville where he later became Grand Knight. Bob received his Fourth Degree designation in 1963. He remained active in the Knights for over 60 years, ranging from pitcher for his first council’s softball team to raffle ticket super salesman for his last council.

He also devoted hours to Boerne’s St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church as an usher and eucharistic minister, building on a role of service begun as an usher at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jacksonville.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Iris; his daughter, Kathleen Sadler of San Antonio; his son, Stephen Fahy of Alexandria, Virginia; his grandson, Patrick Sadler of New York City; and his granddaughters, Hannah Sadler of Chicago and Alice Sadler of Washington, D.C.
