Jesus (Jesse) Joaquin Martinez

September 17, 1950 – January 21, 2022

Jesus (Jesse) Joaquin Martinez, 71, passed away peacefully in Boerne at his home with his daughters and his sister by his side on Friday, January 21, 2022. Services at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church are pending. The family asks that bright and colorful clothing be worn to his services in lieu of funeral blacks.

Jesse was born on September 17, 1950, in Mexico City to Jesus and Maria del Carmen Martinez. He was an extremely intelligent, funny, generous man who loved serving our Lord, his community and his church. He had a passion for music that matched no other and used his talents to praise our Lord.

He really enjoyed cooking and was a true “foodie” at heart. He loved his Spurs and adored his family. He was especially close to his two daughters, Gina and Jessica, and extremely proud of “his legacy”… his two grandchildren, Evan Antonio and Aidan Joaquin.

He had a career that spanned over multiple areas, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, The Boerne Chamber of Commerce and finally the Cana Ballroom at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Expanding on his passion for music, he dedicated much of his time to playing guitar for the choir and Lifeteen Mass for over 20 years. A son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, brother in Christ and friend, he gave his all in everything he set out to accomplish and was passionate about people, music, family and community. He will be loved forever and greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his daughters, Gina Marie Nicolas and Jessica Michelle Martinez; his son-in-law, Anthony Nicolas; his grandchildren, Evan Antonio and Aidan Joaquin Nicolas; his sisters, Carmen Martinez and Patsy Pastrano; his brothers, George Martinez, Homer Arias and Henry Pastrano; his nephews, Jason Pastrano, George Martinez and Steven Martinez; his nieces, Jackie Aguilar, Claudia Pastrano, Jessica Martinez and Deanna Martinez; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Martinez; his mother, Maria Del Carmen; and his sister, Esther Alicia Arias.

The family would like to express their gratitude toward his brothers and sisters in Christ, the St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church community and all who loved him and helped his daughters as he began his journey to meet our Lord.

Instead of floral remembrances, the family suggests that donations can be made to United Mitochondrial Disease Foundationin honor of his grandsons, Evan and Aidan Nicolas.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the staff of Holt & Holt Funeral Home of Boerne. To share words of comfort with the family, please visit www.holtfh.com.
