Susan Proll
March 21, 1940 – January 24, 2022
Susan Proll Kercheville passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, at the age of 81.
She was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Evangeline Edwards and Carl Proll on March 21, 1940. She attended elementary, middle and high school in the San Antonio ISD and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1958.
After graduation, she attended and graduated from Southwest Texas University in San Marcos, Texas. While attending college, she made the academic dean’s list, was elected dorm sweetheart, voted cheerleader and graduated with a degree in business in 1961. The same year, she married John C. Kercheville of Del Rio, and she entered the teacher profession at Southwest ISD.
She and John had two children while living near the school. In 1965, they moved to Boerne and Susan began teaching in the Boerne ISD. In 1973, she obtained a master’s degree in library science from Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio.
At Boerne, Susan served on the state committee for ED.TV with Ross Perot and appeared on Channel 9 promoting ED.TV in Texas. Before retiring, she served on several accreditation teams. She retired in 2002 with 36 years.

Susan is survived by her husband, John C. Kercheville; her sons, John Lowell Kercheville and Robert Cleigh Kerchville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022, at 2 p.m. at the Boerne City Cemetery with Dr. Les Hollon officiating. A gathering will follow the burial at the Dog and Pony Restaurant on South Main Street in Boerne.
