Marilyn Jane Catlett

Marilyn Jane Catlett

December 26, 1937 – January 27, 2022

In loving memory of Marilyn Jane Catlett, December 26, 1937 – January 27, 2022.

Marilyn was born in Dimmit, Texas, to Della and William Cox. She was the only daughter of five children.

After losing her father at a young age, her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she graduated from Phoenix Union High School, met the love of her life, James Ronald Catlett (Ron), and raised her three children. Marilyn worked various jobs throughout the years, primarily at Honeywell/Bull and Co. Sales, where she formed many long, loving relationships with funny stories she loved to tell.

Upon retirement, Marilyn and Ron moved to Texas where she was able to primarily focus on her true passions. While helping to raise grandchildren, she volunteered as the mistress seamstress for two prestigious dance studios, Cookie Joe’s Dance Studio in Houston and San Antonio Metropolitan Ballet. Marilyn also became active in Boerne Youth Baseball where she became the “team grandma” and a favorite face for years as a volunteer at the concession stands.

Family was the most important thing to Marilyn, and she was the central figure to hers. She made sure to check in daily on everyone’s lives, kept track of big events and never missed a birthday or celebration. She valued the time everyone could be together and loved the vacations they were able to take throughout the years.

Anyone who knew Marilyn was touched by her kindness, humor and infectious laugh. Whether she was telling jokes, cooking her famous dishes, cheering on her kids and grandkids or making everyone around her feel special, there was never a moment that she didn’t touch your heart. She never let anyone leave without a hug, kiss and “I love you.”

She was warm and compassionate and always made people feel like they were “home” in her presence. She became “Grandma” to everyone she met and has made a lasting impact on so many people near and far. Our hope is that everyone can find the joy in their life that makes you laugh until you cry, just like Marilyn.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ron; her three children, DeEtte, Lynette and Ronnie; her eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will host a memorial service on Saturday, February 5, at 2 p.m. at Hill Country Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to River City Hospice ( http://rivercityhospice.org/donations ) and FTLDA (https://ftlda.org).
