The Boerne Champion girls soccer team picked up another district victory Tuesday night against Pieper.

The Lady Chargers were cruising but a late goal by the Warriors made it interesting before Champion prevailed 2-1.

Champion is 4-1 in district play and 5-6 overall. They were at Smithson Valley Friday before hosting Seguin Tuesday.

The Lady Chargers looked like they were going to shutout Pieper Tuesday and held a 2-0 lead late in the match but a Charger foul in the box on an accidental trip in the final five minutes drew a penalty kick for the Warriors.

Pieper converted the PK and the Chargers lead was sliced in half at 2-1, with still enough time for Pieper to try and tie it.

The Warriors made a strong push but the Champion defense held and the Chargers picked up the win.

Ava Slay and Ashlyn DeFries both recorded goals in Tuesday’s win.

Also in Champion’s previous win at Tivy, 1-0, Slay and DeFries teamed up ous again with Slay scoring the goal and DeFries getting the assist on the through pass.
