'The Singing Firefighter' here Sunday

Author Conrad Gonzales, a former San Antonio fire department captain, brings his “Captain Conrad’s Safety Tips!” book-signing and safety show to Boerne Sunday, Aug. 18, from 2-4 p.m. at the Boerne Book Shop, 153 S. Main St. in downtown Boerne. After 22 years of firefighting, Gonzales decided to take lyrics from safety songs he’d written and put them into “Captain Conrad’s Safety Tips!” The book consists of poems and lyrics about fire safety, buckling up, bicycle safety and more. Conrad, decked out in his firefighting suit and guitar, will sing the songs in the book — copies of which will be available for purchase and signing.
