Greyhounds race in Round Rock

The Boerne High cross-country teams raced at the McNeil XC Invite in Round Rock at Old Settler’s Park last Saturday.

Both Greyhound teams ran in the Silver race as they prepare for their upcoming district race scheduled for Oct. 9 in Kerrville.

The BHS teams are in one last contest this Saturday morning before district and ran in Seguin at Starcke Park.

Varsity Boys

The Boerne boys competed in the Silver race in Round Rock and finished second with 108 points.

Humble Kingwood won the event with 98 points and Brandeis came in third with 186 points in the field of 27 teams.

Freshman Valor Menn and junior Barrett Crofut paced the Greyhounds by placing in the top 10 after Menn finished fifth with a 16:32.7 and Crofut was one spot back in sixth with a 16:33.0.

Junior Aaron Garcia posted a 16:55.8 for 16th, junior Carsten Bain came in 29th with a 17:16.9 and senior Jackson Temple clocked in at 17:35.6 for 52nd.

Senior Ben Macias ran an 18:41.7 for 122nd and senior Ethan Christianson rounded out the team after he turned in a 19:08.5 for 147th in the field of more than 200 individual runners.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Greyhounds were 13th with 385 points in the field of 30 teams.

S.A. Reagan won the girls Silver event with 81 points, McKinney Boyd took second with 175 points and Keller came in third at 177.

Two BHS seniors paced the team after Eleanor Davis finished 21st with a time of 20:37.1 and Genevieve Sengler was 67th after recording a 22:08.5.

The next three BHS finishers were freshman after Penelope Kirk placed 85th with a time of 22:08.5, Abigail Jundrusch clocked in at 22:42.2 for 104th and Kelsey Farar was 108th in a time of 22:29.6.

Junior Sophia Karageorge posted a 22:57.5 for 140th and sophomore Kiera Sawyer turned in a 23:34.5 for 164th in the field of 211 competitors.
