The Comfort girls hoops team picked up its first win of the season as they traveled to Dilley on Tuesday and came away with a 48-19 win.
Comfort is 1-3 overall and entered in the Pearsall Maverick Classic this weekend. The Deer opened with Lutheran and Holy Cross on Thursday.
CHS doubled up Dilley in the first quarter, 10-5, and then outscored the Lady Wolves in the second, 18-0, for the 28-5 lead.
Things were closer in the second half but the Deer still won the third and fourth quarters. Comfort took the third, 11-8, and outscored Dilley in the fourth, 9-6.
Jael Hernandez had a stellar night with 16 points, 8 steals and 6 assists.
Alexa Lozano added 13 points, Molly Gowan was a point away from double digits with 9 points, Danielle Ruelas added 6 points, while Savannah Pizana and Tindall Ahrens both netted 2.
Gowan grabbed 11 rebounds, while Lozano had 7 boards and 6 steals for the Deer.
