The Boerne Champion girls hoops team overcame a slow start to pick up a district win last Tuesday at Smithson Valley.
When the first half concluded, the Chargers were trailing by 9 points at halftime but outscored the Lady Rangers in the second half, 26-14, to earn the 49-46 victory.
Champion is 10-1 overall and 2-0 in district. The Chargers played at NB Canyon Tuesday in a non-district game and are scheduled to play in the Jimmy K Classic Tournament this weekend.
After falling behind in the first quarter, 20-12, the Chargers were outscored in the second by a point, 12-11, and were behind at halftime, 32-23.
Champion started its comeback in the third quarter and won the period, 19-6, to flip the scoreboard in their favor, 42-38.
The Rangers won the fourth quarter but only by a point, 8-7, to give the Chargers a 3-point win.
Addison Darter led the team in scoring with 11 points, Brielle Burdick was also in double figures with 10 points, Hailey Winn scored 8, Taylor Burk and Savannah Wayment both added 6, Jenna Koepke had 5, Abby Sommer scored 2 and Emma Lee hit a free throw.
