The Comfort girls basketball team picked up a home win before the Thanksgiving break after the Deer defeated Medina last Tuesday, 46-32.
Before that, Comfort played in the Maverick Classic in Pearsall where they posted a 1-3 record.
Comfort is 3-6 overall and was at home Tuesday against Junction. They’ll host Center Point Friday, 6:30 p.m.
The Deer were up 7-4 against Medina to end the opening period and then won the second quarter, 18-10, for the 25-14 halftime lead.
Comfort doubled up Medina in the third, 12-6, and opened up a 37-20 advantage before Medina won the final stanza, 12-9, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Deer.
Jaelyn Ruelas paced Comfort with 14 points, Jael Hernandez tallied 12, Tindall Ahrens added 8, Alexa Lozano netted 7, Molly Gowan scored 3 and Danielle Ruelas chipped in with 2.
Ahrens collected 9 rebounds to go with her 8 points and also came up with 4 steals, while Hernandez dished out 7 assists.
Pearsall Tournament
At the Maverick Classic in Pearsall, the Deer went 1-3. Comfort lost to St. Anthony’s 39-22, was defeated by S.A. Lutheran, 43-11 and beat Dilley, 56-25.
It was their second game with Dilley this year and the Deer have taken both of them.
Speaking of rematches, Comfort played St. Anthony’s once again at the tourney and lost to them a second time, 51-30.
