JANUARY 11

KUHLMANN-KING TOURS by the Boerne Area Historical Preservation Society. Step back in time to experience and explore how a Boerne family would have lived in the late 1800s. Tours go from noon to 3 p.m. at the Historical Complex, 402 E. Blanco Road. Tours are free, but donations are always welcome.

PRAIRIE RESTORATION WORKSHOP at the Cibolo Center for Conservation. Join The Cibolo, 140 City Park Road, from 9-11 a.m. for tips and resources for a successful native plant restoration. The group will discuss how to know if more diversity should be added to the plant community, how to prepare the seedbed, how to plant, and what to expect after the planting. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at cibolo.org.

SISTERDALE SANCTUARY SURVEY: The Sisterdale Sanctuary is a 32-acre preserve protecting the Guadalupe watershed, providing access to nature and a safe habitat for the many who call it home. Monthly bird surveys are a unique volunteer opportunity to help collect valuable wildlife data for strategies and planning of the Sisterdale Sanctuary. Register at cibolo.org.

DEMENTIA CARE WORKSHOP presented by Franklin Park Boerne. Join Franklin Park Boerne, 18 Old San Antonio Road, for a purposeful journey through the stages of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia, presented by Hannah Calame, MSDA. MUSHROOM WALK AND Talk. Dive into the intriguing story of our official state mushroom, the hissing Texas Star, and explore how this species represents the unique mycological wonders of Central Texas. The event runs 5:30-7 p.m. at Herff Farm, 33 Herff Road. Take home your very own mushroom grow block to upcycle and experience the magic of mushroom cultivation firsthand.
