Both Boerne and Kendall County officially proclaimed August 17 as Nonprofit Day through the reading of and issuing proclamations declaring as such. The city’s ceremony took place last Friday as Mayor Tim Handren, right, read and signed the city’s proclamation and presented it to Staci Almager, CEO of Hill Country Family Services, while other local nonprofit leaders, city officials and Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce staff and members applauded the occasion. Wednesday is Nonprofit Day in Boerne and Kendall County, and both the city and county recognized the occasion through the signing of proclamations declaring as such. Both were signed last week during ceremonies at the courthouse and city hall, respectively.

And, as it turns out, the proclamations and recognition are highly appropriate as Kendall recently again was recognized by SmartAsset as the Texas county with the most generous residents when it comes to charitable causes and organizations.

“Nonprofits play a growing role in the social and economic strength of Kendall County,” Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kim Blohm told The Star. “A strong, vibrant nonprofit community enhances and supports the quality of life of our growing region. … “Our area is lucky to have a wide range of nonprofits with everything from education, human and social services, healthcare, animal care, arts, humanities, environmental conservation and more.”
