Reports of an active shooter at the Woodlands Apartments ended Monday afternoon when the assailant, 36-yearold Boerne resident Robert Anthony Limauro, fatally shot himself.

According to information from the city of Boerne, at 1:46 p.m. the Boerne Police Department responded to the report of shots fired at the apartments located at 150 Medical Drive. The 911 callers advised they heard five to six shots fired and saw several individuals running from the pool area. Officers from multiple law enforcement agencies arrived on the scene and gathered more information.

In all, about 20 police vehicles, including state troopers and tactical teams, along with an ambulance and fire truck, blocked the cul-de-sac leading up to the apartment complex entrance. Before Limauro was found, residents were stopped further down Medical Drive and denied entry as armed law enforcement agents – some brandishing assault rifles – guarded the exit and patrolled the complex.
