The Boerne Star is entering spring with a new partnership. Boerne’s two leading sources for news and entertainment are combining forces and will operate under one roof come March.
The newspaper is expanding its partnership with Boerne Radio 103.9.
Boerne Radio co-founders Baron and Shan Wiley, along with their staff, are moving into The Star’s offices at 941 N. School St. March 1.
“We’re all very happy about our partnership with Boerne Radio,” Star Marketing Consultant Jessica Christensen said. “The energy and excitement they bring will be amazing for our office. We’ll be able to do so much more together.”
The two media outlets have worked together over the past several years, but this blossoming partnership is expected to culminate in expanding offerings, including video, audio and written content.
“This marks a new era for full coverage of Boerne, Bandera, Comfort, Bergheim Fair Oaks Ranch and surrounding communities,” said Thomas Edwards, executive editor of Granite Media Partners, the owners of The Star and The Bandera Bulletin. “We believe this partnership with Boerne Radio will only enhance how we cover local news for all of our audiences.”
Boerne Radio will also continue to share news from The Star and its sister newspaper, The Bandera Bulletin, at the top and bottom of each hour.
“This was a natural fit. The Boerne Star has been around for over 100 years, and 103.9 has great outreach and standing in the community,” Suzanne Stevens, digital desk editor for The Star’s parent company Granite Media Partners, said of the growing partnership.
Working together, both KBRN and The Star will share and expand their coverage of crime, courts, schools, sports, local politics and much more.
“This partnership will allow us to broaden our news capabilities so we can bring our readers and new listeners the most up-to-date, local news,” Stevens said.
In the pre-production phase is a weekly radio show hosted by The Star’s managing editor, Zachary-Taylor Wright, in which local leaders and decision-makers will pull aside the curtain to show the inner workings of local government, services and nonprofit agencies.
“I couldn't be more excited to be able to keep Kendall County and Boerne residents informed through more formats,” Wright said. “Boerne Radio is my station of choice always, so I’m really excited to have the opportunity to work with them more closely.”
In addition, The Star plans to expand its offerings to include more audio and video news and content to make sure readers and subscribers are always in the know.
“The Star hopes to continue to be your No. 1 source of news in town and to bring Boerne Radio onboard to grow both of our audiences to keep Kendall County great,” Wright said.
