State deployed disaster crew ahead of storm’s arrival

New legislation negates municipal oversight
Governance in municipal extra territorial jurisdictions (ETJs) was once again targeted during this year’s legislative session. SB 2038, which will allow landowners in the ETJ to petition for release from oversight by the municipality, will become law on Sept. 1.

TxDOT, police targeting drunk driving over Labor Day
AUSTIN – As Labor Day approaches, TxDOT is reminding all Texans about the dangers of drunk driving. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced an increased enforcement period from Aug. 18 to Sept. 4. Texas law enforcement agencies are among those that will increase their efforts to pull over motorists suspected of drunk driving.
