Created to create, even at home
Q: I got married right out of college. Four years later, I’ve got two needy toddlers and an art degree that apparently means nothing. Meanwhile, my still-single sorority sisters have thriving careers in graphic design and constantly post about their work and exotic travels. I love my kids, but I have to confess that I’m jealous and discouraged. How do I let go of those artistic dreams I once had?

Wildfires continue across much of state
Firefighters are looking to the skies for much-needed rain this week as crews continue battling wildfires across the state. Fires reported Sunday by the Texas A&M Forest Service were being fought in Brown, Taylor, Wilbarger, Llano, Schleicher and San Saba counties.

SMSgt. Jose R. Gutierrez, USAF (Ret.), 91, passed away on May 14, 2022. He was born March 11, 1931, in Wetmore, Texas, the son of the late Francisco and Mercedez Gutierrez.

Man gets 8 years on felony charge
A 62-year-old Boerne resident, James Lee Topham, pleaded guilty to intentionally striking a woman’s vehicle with his own, causing damage between $2,500 and $30,000. He was sentenced to 8 years in state prison as part of his plea agreement.

Hail, Caesar!
Geneva School of Boerne third-grade students compete in the Julius Caesar Contest each May. Students take a comprehensive written exam on their year-long study of Ancient Greece and Rome. The top 10 scorers earn the right to compete on stage in the Julius Caesar Contest where they dress in their finest togas and answer verbal questions about what they learned this year. Going Haywire ...
The Patrick Heath Public Library played host to the Haywire Bluegrass Band Thursday night as part of its Live! At the Library monthly series. The quintet performed familiar contemporary country songs tuned to their bluegrass sound and performed original songs from their studio album.
