July 21, 1935 -- Oct. 27, 2024

Alice Ann Grosser Morris passed into the loving arms of our heavenly Father after a long and fulfilling life as a wife, mother, dear friend and dedicated servant who ministered to many.

She was born in 1935 to German immigrant parents, Walter and Carolina (nee Erfurt) Grosser, at their Mustang Hill ranch in Bulverde, Texas. She attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse with one teacher for all eight grades and it was there that she first learned to speak English.

At age 10, she attended Rahe Bulverde School, which her father and brother helped build and for which her mother prepared and served lunches. She then attended New Braunfels High School where she participated in Grange and 4-H, athletics and home economics and graduated with honors a year early. She was also a beauty queen winner for the regional pageant hosted by The Grange Order.

She was working as a bookkeeper for one of the original car dealerships in New Braunfels when she met 1st. Lt. Joseph Morris from Illinois, who was temporarily stationed at Randolph Field in nearby San Antonio. A relationship blossomed, they fell in love and two years later he returned from a duty station in Yokota Air Base, Japan and the two were married.

Their life together took them to many places, but she never forgot her roots and the land where she grew up, eventually settling back in Bulverde in 1999 after a lengthy career with the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth and many volunteer service pursuits.

In her retirement years, Alice also enjoyed the Boerne Garden Club, the Ammann Road neighborhood Bunco group and entering award-winning homemade jams in the Kendall County Fair. In 2005 the AA Morris Ranch was listed in the Texas Family Land Registry, having been owned and operated by the same family since 1867.

She served the St. Peter’s parish as a Eucharistic minister, and with her husband Joe started the sponsor couple program, hosting many engaged couples in one-onone marriage preparation.

The couple hosted and led a prayer group at their home for many years and worked with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and other groups. She prayed the Rosary daily and was active in the St. Therese of Lisieux group.

She will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Carolina Grosser, and one brother, Elmer Grosser.

She was survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Joseph Morris; one son, Daniel (Lisa) Morris; three daughters, Denise Morris, Terisa (Ron) Bransford, and Anastacia (Tim) Cleveland; five grandsons, Joshua Carpenter, Jonathan Bransford, Jeremy Gage, and Wesley and Kolby Morris; five granddaughters, Annalaura (Cody) Gary, Christy (David) Schackman, Kalina (Dylan) Kucera, Meghan Cleveland and Mary Alice Morris; many great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Carol Morris, one brother-in law, Bob (Connie) Morris; and many nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

Services were held at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, with burial at the Boerne City Cemetery. Donations may be made to carmelnuns.com or toward the new school at stpetersboerne. com. Please see the full biography at ebensberger- fisher.com.
