Arla Jeanne Anderson
Arla Jeanne Anderson (nee Smith) of Noblesville peacefully commenced her journey into the heavenly forest of spiritual rest on Nov. 17, 2024, in Boerne, Texas.
Arla was born May 18, 1941, and grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended grade school at St. Joan of Arc and St. Agnes High School in Indianapolis and attended the University of Indiana in Bloomington.
Arla worked for many years in radio and television broadcasting at WFBM (TV and Radio) in Indianapolis until she married her husband farmer, the late Henry Anderson of Noblesville.
Arla immediately took to farming, focusing primarily on the farm’s livestock, including feeding and cleanup duties. She loved animals, including the family cats and dogs, livestock, and also raised numerous orphans animals, including raccoons, a skunk, a fox and a groundhog.
Arla enjoyed walks in the woods, fishing in the pond and was a prolific reader with a penchant for well-written murder mysteries. She was also an avid euchre player.
Friends may wish to remember Arla by listening to her favorite song, Peggy Lee’s “Is That All There Is?”
Arla approached everything with strength and determination. During the last half-year of her life, Arla was under the capable and loving care of her daughter, Mary Jeanne Anderson-Novak and son-in-law Mark Novak of Boerne, and beloved grandson and committed pen pal, Nick Novak.
Her living legacy also includes one son, Bradford (Sharon) Anderson in California; her second daughter, Kathleen (Matt) Nekola in Bloomington; one granddaughter, Lauren Nekola; and one brother, Paul Richard Cannaley and family, of Carmel, Indiana.
Her spirited personality and caring love will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
