Comfort was hoping for a sweep against the Brady baseball team, but the Bulldogs were able to salvage a split last Friday after both teams won at home.

The Bobcats took last Tuesday’s game on the road, 9-4, and were home to host the Bulldogs last Friday but neither team was able to protect their home turf.

Comfort was up 3-2 but two Brady runs in the top of the seventh was the difference in last Friday’s game and helped the Bulldogs win it, 4-3.

Friday’s loss drops Comfort to 8-10 overall and is 3-3 in district. The Bobcats were at Blanco Monday and host the Panthers Thursday.

Comfort took a 1-0 lead in the first after Brooks Davis singled and later scored. Brady tied it in the third with a single run and then took the lead in the fourth at 2-1 after punching in another run thanks to starting off the inning with a triple.

The Bobcats pulled back on top in the bottom of the fifth with singles from Mason Matt and Gunner Carpenter and a double from Noah Bohnert.

Comfort was up 3-2 and had the bases loaded with two outs and had a chance to pad its lead but the Bulldogs got out of the inning with only a one-run deficit.

The Bobcat 3-2 advantage held until the bottom of the seventh when the Bulldogs rallied. A single, a couple of errors and another single allowed Brady to pull ahead 4-3.

Comfort still had one last chance in the bottom half of the inning and needed a run to tie it or 2 runs to win it, but the Bobcats only put one runner on after Rhyder George took a walk with two outs. The next batter struck out and that ended it.

Comfort finished with 9 hits and were led by Matt who knocked out 2 hits, while Bohnert doubled, and Carpenter drove in 2 runs.

Zach Jones started on the hill and went 4.1 innings for Comfort. He gave up 5 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks and struck out 4.

Carpenter finished out on the bump and threw the final 2.2 innings. He yielded 2 hits, no earned runs or walks and fanned 1.
