Catherine ‘Katie’ Breh Oaster
March 10, 1946 -- April 15, 2025
Catherine (Katie) Breh Oaster died on April 15, 2025, at her home in Comfort, Texas. She is predeceased by her husband, Kenneth R. Oaster Sr.; her father, Charles F Breh; mother, Catherine Breh; and two brothers, Charles J. Breh and Michael Breh.
Katie is survived by two daughters, Michele (Ralph “Skip”) DeForest and Rebecca Oaster; one son Kenneth Oaster II; one sister, Mary Lue Fraser; and four grandchildren Alexis (Cory) Forsyth, Madison Oaster, Kolgan DeForest and Callahan DeForest.
She is also survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-inlaw, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Katie grew up in Central New York but moved to the Texas Hill Country in 1998. She worked the majority of her adult life in the financial services and/or insurance industry, having retired fairly early from USAA.
Upon retirement, Katie volunteered in multiple non-profit organizations. She was most proud of her efforts working with others to establish the Hill Country Animal League Spay/ Neuter Clinic, the Pet Facility at the Kendall County Women’s Shelter and her role in the Capital campaign for A Doggie 4 You dog rescue in Pipe Creek, Texas.
There will be an informal memorial at Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home in Boerne, Texas, on April 24, 2025, with prepared tributes starting at 6 p.m. There will also be a graveside service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Dewitt, New York, on May 2, 2025, at 10 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at the North Chittenango Fire Company at 1 p.m.
