GOP selects Barreras-Rawls as county chair

Jennifer Barreras- Rawls, a retired federal law enforcement officer and small business owner, was named Kendall County Republican Party chair last week.

She succeeds Michael Wheeler, who served as party chairman for the past year.

Barreras- Rawls is actively involved in Republican party leadership, currently serving as the first vice president and program chair of the Kendall County Republican Women and as events coordinator for the Kendall County Republican Party.

She has been a committed member of the Republican women’s group, contributing her experience and voice to advancing conservative values.

Over the course of her career, Barreras-Rawls established herself as a respected and effective leader in the traditionally male-dominated field of federal law enforcement.

With 25 years of service at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, she led numerous high-impact organizations and initiatives across the country, consistently earning recognition for her strategic leadership and operational excellence.

Her trailblazing journey included serving in senior leadership roles such as division chief at U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters, division chief of operations and chief of staff at Joint Task Force West, Border Security Director of Policy at the Department of Homeland Security, and senior policy adviser to the Executive Assistant Commissioner of CBP.

She was also the patrol agent in charge of both the Tucson Station and Three Points Substation, the largest command in the U.S. Border Patrol.

In 2019, she was honored to be a guest speaker at the Texas Federation of Republican Women (TFRW) Convention in Galveston, where she addressed more than 800 attendees on the critical issue of border security.

Barreras-Rawls holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University and is a graduate of the CBP Leadership Institute at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, as well as the University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies’ Red Team Leaders Course.

A release from the Kendall County Republican party said Barreras-Rawls “has dedicated her life to serving the American people, and holds deeply to the principles of integrity, transparency, and the protection of our freedoms.”

She is the proud wife of 28 years to a retired federal law enforcement agent and military veteran and a devoted mother to three daughters.
