Boerne Middle School North Principal Daniel Owen has been placed on administrative leave following his arrest last week for driving while intoxicated, according to school officials.
Kendall County sheriff's deputies stopped Owen, 48, late Thursday and charged him with driving-while-intoxicated-second offense and for unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to reports.
Owen, booked into the detention center at 4:36 a.m., was released at 1:30 p.m. Friday from the Kendall County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
School officials released information Monday stating Owen, Boerne Middle School North principal since the 2019-2020 school year, was placed under administrative leave with pay while the district investigates the incident.
While Boerne ISD central office staff are on 226-day contracts, Boerne ISD principal contracts ended June 5; his arrest occurred just hours later.
