Boerne ISD names Carr Boerne Middle School North principal

The Boerne Independent School District Monday announced Garrett Carr as its new Boerne Middle School North principal.

Carr, who joined Boerne ISD in 2022, has been assistant principal at the school since 2023. His first day as its principal will be July 21.

He succeeds Daniel Owen, who resigned June 12 after an arrest for DWI and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Carr first joined the Champion High School staff as a CTE health science teacher and substitute assistant principal for Voss Middle School.

Carr received his bachelor's degree in 2010 from Whittier College and his master’s degree in education in 2012 from Whittier.

“Boerne Middle School North has a proud legacy to uphold, and Mr. Carr is the right

leader to guide the campus into the future,” said Dr. Kristin Craft, Boerne ISD superintendent.

“We are excited to see the positive impact his elevated leadership will have at North and look forward to the continued success of our students and staff,” Craft said.

Since his arrival, Carr has focused on supporting a strong student culture, implementing safety protocols and emergency procedures, supporting instructional needs, supervising athletics and more.

He is also a Center for Model Schools instructional rounds leader, and has a bevy of certifications and specialized training, including from Capturing Kids Hearts and the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System.

Carr’s wife, Terees, is a senior credit analyst for Sonora Bank in Boerne. Their daughter is a student at Fabra Elementary School and their son attends Mini Texans preschool.

Boerne ISD is a top-rated public school district serving more than 11,150 students across Kendall and Bexar counties.
