It’s not too late — join the Patrick Heath Public Library this summer on a captivating and colorful journey around the world. Mark your summer calendars with all these colorful children’s events.
Weekly children’s programs
• Tuesdays 9:30 a.m.: Bubbletime Bookworms, a story time for babies 0-2 years old that features stories, songs, movement, bubbles and stay-and-play time.
10:30 a.m.: Colorful Critters, a real-life petting zoo experience for children 0-11 years with Happy Tails Mobile Petting Zoo. Featuring mini but marvelous goats, cows, horses, pigs and more.
• Wednesdays 10:30 a.m.: Little Listeners, a storytime for children 2 years and up with lively tales, tunes, movement, puppets and crafting.
• Thursdays 9:30 a.m.: Bubbletime Bookworms.
• Fridays 10:30 a.m.: Colorful Culinary Creations, a culinary experience for elementary-age children that features a new “head chef” each week who will teach our junior chefs how to make tasty treats. Space is limited to 30 children on a first-come basis.
Children’s special programs
• Step Back in Time at Herff Farmers Market June 28 and July 26, 10:30 a.m. An interactive experience for all ages to learn the story of the historical Herff homestead.
• Colors of the World Dance Performance July 19 at 10:30 a.m. A performance of colorful choreography by youthful dancers that will have the audience clapping and tapping along, with free Kelani Yogurt for attendees on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Storytimes at Herff Farmers Market July 12, 10:30 a.m. An off campus storytime featuring tales, tunes, crafting and tasty treats.
• PeeWee Pinspirations July 14, 3 p.m. Little artists and their grown-ups, come color outside the lines with us as we guide you through a fun, hands-on craft perfect for elementary-aged kids.
Colorful closing party
Family Foam Zone Party, July 21 at 10:30 a.m. Take the plunge into fountains of colorful foam. Frolic to the music and enjoy rainbow sherbet. Highly recommended: Wear clothes you do not mind getting wet.
Weekly fun
• Weekly Reading Challenges Calling all Little Readers: complete your choice of five challenges in a row each week to be entered into a weekly drawing for a chance to win a prize from our display case of treasures.
• Weekly Eye Spy Kermit the Frog got lost looking for his Rainbow Connection. Find Kermit and get your choice of a treasure chest prize.
• Storywalk on Old No. 9 Stroll along our Storywalk Trail and discover a rainbow of colorful critters.
General interest/All ages programs
• Festival of Colors! July 26, 6 p.m. Inspired by the Indian Holi Festival, come celebrate a flashy finish to the summer with food, music, crafts, and a celebration of color. Don’t forget to wear white.
